5 Ways to Improve Productivity at Work

• 3 min read

e-learningImagine a workplace where everyone has mastered the secrets to producing better results. You just sit back, do your work and feel all the confidence in the world. Isn’t it just perfect?

That’s probably opposite your situation now. Try as you might, you can’t force everyone to be as productive as they ought to be. Luckily, we have outlined below five results-driven productivity tips and techniques that will inspire your team to get more and better work done in less time.

  1. Motivate your team
Every high-performing employee needs a fair share of recognition from supervisors. Giving reward for excellent work is an effective motivator. It does not necessarily have to be financial; most workers respond well to a free dinner out, a ticket to a concert or a day off. Be creative when devising incentives. The key here is to find the kind of rewards that employees deem valuable. After all, it has already been proven that motivation drives better performance.
  2. Allow enjoyment
Employees who are half interested or not fully immersed in their work will soon find it boring. Step back and ask yourself if you are enjoying your work. Remember, modelling engagement is more effective than dictating it. After this honest self-evaluation, simply ask the member how he feels about his work and discuss how he could enjoy his work. Some companies conduct a regular tracker or survey to measure the satisfaction level of workers. You may suggest this to the management in case you don’t have this process yet.
  3. Train through e-learning technology
Elearning technologies (e.g. computer-based training, computer-based instruction, multimedia learning, etc.) are essential learning and development investments a growing business needs to have. Nowadays, almost everyone uses computers to do business anywhere, anytime. The digital age allows us to do everything effectively and efficiently wherever we are – provided there’s an internet connection. If we use this technology to help employees advance in their career through online classes and courses, we will definitely inspire productivity in the workplace.
  4. Be accountable
Holding a management position means being responsible for a set of things that determine the future of the business. Whatever you do will affect the rest of the process. By setting an example, e.g. demonstrating productive behaviours, you are sending a powerful message to your team, that is, you expect them to put in their best efforts at all times. If you want your team to get more things done or produce better results, be accountable with your behaviours and decisions.
  5. Give thorough and clear feedback from time to time
As a foundational management skill, giving feedback can move mountains in the business. Done right, a single correction on a project or task will lead to better results. That is if the correction is made in a professional manner. The timeless rule is to give constructive criticisms in private and give praises in public.  By doing so, you will earn your team member’s respect and reinforce positive behaviours.

This is not an exhaustive list of tips to encourage productivity in the workplace.  There are tons of effective training courses or custom learning content for improving time-management and prioritization skills among employees. Stay curious and resourceful in searching ways to inspire your team to always put in their best efforts for the success of the business.
