Object : 4.0.2 upgrade problem with step 5 - Languages
Hi,
I did all the steps and the upgrade works perfectly from 3.6.0.4 to 4.0.2, up to step 4/6.  The problem is, when I get to step 5 in the upgrader, it gets stuck.  It just says:
p.p1 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 10.0px 20.0px; line-height: 20.0px; font: 17.0px Arial} p.p2 {margin: 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px 0.0px; line-height: 16.0px; font: 13.0px Arial}

Upgrade languages

Languages

and then nothing.  It displays no list of languages or anything beyond those words, and it doesn't activate the "Next Step" button either.  So, I can't move forward to step 6, and I can't therefore finish the upgrade.  Can someone help me with this please? now my site is not functional, I either have to install or upgrade.

thanks

Hi,
the first thing to do before an upgrade is a backup, this is true for every software !

If the upgrader had reach the language step the database data and structure should be ok, try a new login and if everything work fine just upload the new languages by yourself from the admin area, you can find them in the xml_languages folder.

Speaking about the error, the xml_language folder was uploaded online ? Which languages were active on the installation ?

Fabio

Hi Fabio,
I tried several times using different machines and browsers (windows, mac, chrome, safari, IE), every time things go well until step five, then the upgrader gets stuck again (appears to be an infinite loop).  I ran the query from Step5Controller.php directly in my database (SELECT lang_code FROM core_lang_language WHERE 1) and it works perfectly fine, returns the 3 original languages.  Not sure what goes wrong after that.

The xml_language folder is online, and the active languages on the installation were English, Spanish and Portuguese.  I'd happily login and install the languages myself, but if I open my site's base url I get the installation screen.  Is there any way to get around that and login? plus I don't get to do step six of the upgrade, which I'm not sure what it is btw, can you tell me what step 6 of the upgrade is just to evaluate it's importance?

I do have a database backup, I'm thinking about deleting the database, install the whole thing from scratch and then import the backup database into the new installation.  Do you think that'd work?
tnx!!

Hello,
you should be able to login if you rename you config.php into config_old.php and copy the install/data/config_template.php to /config.php. Then you should open it and manually set your database parameters and eventually other options like ftp. If you have any question feel free to aks.

At this point, if the database data are ok, you should be able to get to the login interface instead instead of being redirected to the installer.

bye,
Giovanni.

I had the same problem, I couldn´t get to work to step 6 but the update was made :)

I just went to the root insert the admin user and load the languages in main> languages from the installation folder in my computer located in:

>xml_language

Everything now is good I´m in 4,03
