Object : Uploading large files
Hi,

I am setting up a test site using docebo, very impressed, many thanks guys for making this.

I have a simple question, I am in the process of uploading files into the courses:

Teacher area/learning object management/new learning object/upload file

I locate the source of the file on my local hard drive, the system finds it and then loads it up. The problem which I have is that it takes a very long time to load up a file of around 30Mb (Video files)

When I login as a student I can access the videos files and they take only moments to download and play.

My questions are.

1. Is there a faster way of uploading the files, I had a look at the location of the files when they are loaded into Docebo and I suppose I could load them into the directory directly, but the files which I loaded up via http have a series of digits appended to them/

2. Is there an alternative way for Docebo to play videos other than having the student download the entire contect, i.e does Docebo support flash player?

Many thanks in advance

Hello,
about your first question, this it depdends from your internet connection: usually the upload speed is lower than the download one. The fact that the file is renamed desn't make the upload take more time and the file is not processed after upload.

About your second question, the best way would be to use a scorm object in flash. Otherwise you could upload them on your personal media using insert / edit media and clicking the browse button -> personal images.

bye,
Giovanni.

Hi,

Thanks for the reaply, I understand the first point, although matching uploading in Docebo againest the speed of uploading the size file using FTP to the same server, there is a big difference. I tried loading a 250Mb file yesterday it timed out.

I will try the your suggestion regarding the second question.

Thanks

FTP don't have a timeout, you can set up a larger timeout timing from the php configuration
