Web 3.0 – connecting education & corporate learning

• 2 min read

On Monday the 26th May academics, teachers and learning experts got together for a one day event in Naples, Italy to discuss how digital tools can help improve the education system. School, University and Work 3.0 were the basis of this new discussion forum promoted by Docebo in collaboration with the University “Suor Orsola Benincasa” of Naples.

Main takeaways from the event

In order to define a new learning environment you need to connect these 3 pillars (School, University, Work) to helping improve on and develop the education system and in turn university and the ease of passage into the workforce – it is linear and has a knock on effect.

We must begin with school, which contributes to the cultural evolution of a society and is the first main institution people come in contact with. We require a school system open to research conducted in the academic world as well as to collaboration with organizations. We could say this makes up part of the “3.0” in “Web 3.0” – open to school, open to university, open to work.

The web is an open space

The web is an open space for collaboration and mutual influence – where rigid institutional boundaries are overcome and communities formed. Being an active “citizen” in these virtual communities goes well beyond national boundaries, and value created in a physical space (the local community) can help the global community at large (more on that later). Experiences on the web have a feeling of universality and echoes of those experiences surpass both time and space – everyone can be affected everywhere and at any time.

Value – from local to global, from school to corporation

Generating a “global resonance” from “value” created at a local level is a great opportunity for organizations working in the education technology sector. This is what Claudio Erba, CEO of Docebo, expressed when he invited the forum’s participants to think about the following key points: data generated at school at an experimental level, may turn into products that an enterprise can export on a global scale, i.e. value created locally at school or university can be shared globally through organizations.

Rather than “adopting” a technology, schools and similar institutions must “produce”, “generate” and “share” solutions – this was the aim of the forum that brought together schools, universities, institutions, enterprises, analysts, start-ups and investors.

A tangible example of this is the “Docebo School”, designed for students from all over the world by the students of Liceo Artistico de Chirico of Naples – they didn’t simply use the Docebo LMS as an elearning tool, but adapted it to their needs and redesigned the system.

Whilst the University event is now over, we invite you to join in on this discussion online with us and share your experiences and thoughts on how you are redesigning the web, its tools and its rules to define a new learning space with global value!
