Learning Just Got a Little Easier with the Docebo LMS-Google Drive Integration

Here at Docebo, we stay on top of cutting-edge technology in order to provide customers with the most current and innovative ways to optimize learning programs. One widely used tool is Google Drive, and if you haven’t heard, Drive is used by businesses around the globe to create, store, exchange and collaborate on files such as spreadsheets, docs, and presentations.

Now Docebo is pleased to announce it has integrated Google Drive into its elearning management system (LMS), so learning and development professionals can use the two products together seamlessly in order to improve training programs.

It’s Easy. Really Easy.

As a company, Google is known for simplicity and elegance. Its products are comprehensible enough for less tech-savvy users, yet robust enough for seasoned users.

Anyone who has used Google Drive, or has some familiarity with Microsoft Office, will know it is very easy to get up and running with these applications. They’ll also know the assets they generate are commonly used within learning programs. So not only is it effortless to jump right in and use these tools with little experience, it is also easy to edit, collaborate, and share assets on the fly. Oh, and did we mention activating the integration is as simple as installing an application from an app store on your smartphone? Yeah. Pretty easy.

Linked Learning Materials

What’s notable about this integration is that basically anything that can be created within the Google applications can be course material. Virtually anyone can create new learning assets, and editing and updating assets is effortless and less complicated.

For example, let’s say one piece of course material is tied to multiple different activities and courses. Formerly, that one asset would have to be updated, then manually linked to each course and activity. No longer. With this integration, once a learning object is modified and updated, all courses linked to it instantly reflect the changes.

This makes version control simpler, too. Since a Google Doc, for example, lives in one virtual place and retains its own history, there is just one working version of that document to which all learning assets point. It should be pointed out these are benefits of Google Drive itself that happen to extend through integration with Docebo when Drive is leveraged for content authoring.

Stay Relevant. With One Edit.

Keeping course materials up to date is also much easier. For example, as opposed to using course materials created by converting a PowerPoint presentation or PDF, content edits can be performed any time after a Google Doc has been published in a course.

Remember when a change in product or policy meant revising stacks of course materials, then re-associating the updated versions with the appropriate courses and activities? The challenge of updating materials that exist in multiple locations is something that was already addressed with the Docebo 6.9 release central learning object repository (CLOR). However, for Docebo users already using Google Drive for content authoring, it’s now considerably easier to update materials.
