The new Docebo course player enhances the look, feel, and learning experience for your courses
One of the features Docebo customers love most is the newly designed LMS course player.
As you may know, the course player is the environment in the Docebo LMS where learners go to actually take courses, download assignments, watch videos, do quizzes, and much more. In the latest release of Docebo, we wanted to truly empower learners and enhance the entire user experience. One of the ways we were able to accomplish this was by introducing a cleaner look and feel for the course player.
Creating a Seamless Learner Experience
The way learners view and interact with eLearning courses is of paramount importance for a seamless and fruitful learning experience. A modern course player must have a number of key characteristics that are not found in traditional players.
A modern LMS course player must:
- Offer a content-centric, non-distracting environment
- Provide clarity to the student as to what they need to do and make it easy to navigate through the course
- Show progress in a clean, straightforward manner
- Provide the ability to go to the next lesson, the previous lesson, and view what’s next
- Give learners control over preferred viewing options (e.g., some courses work well with a wide-screen view and others need a more tabled approach, with a descriptive table of content)
- Offer plenty of navigation options that can be customized (at a global level and for sets of specific courses)
Another key element is the ability to enrich the course page with “widgets” that can perform a number of supporting actions – for instance, allowing learners to easily access forums, Q&A with experts, comments, a file repository area for downloadable files, web conferencing, and more.
Empowering the Learner
Perhaps the most important capability of the course player is enabling learners to figure out how to navigate through a course or a learning plan by themselves, with no training needed whatsoever.
