How to Manage your Online Training Resources

• 2 min read

While building a course, the training resources must be organized in order to make the learning process effective, but also to allow administrators to overview and report users’ activities in an easy way.

In this article we are going to explain how to manage your online training resources by using Docebo’s LMS tools (Properties and prerequisites). The steps below can be followed while managing both a newly created course or a Docebo’s marketplace course.

As the first step, you have to switch your Docebo E-Learning platform to the advanced version:

1 – Choose the final Learning Object

Choose the final Learning Object: in other words, the one that will be used to close the course (you need to set it as “end object marker”). Now, open this course, click on Teacher area from the course menu and choose Training Resources Management.

 Click the properties icon (from the menu on the right) next to the Learning Object you want to be used as the final one.

Finally, among properties, click yes next to “end object marker”.

We suggest to let the course end with an assessment questionnaire or a survey.

2 – Set the Learning Object options

The Properties panel allows you to decide:

– If the Learning Object is visible or hidden;
– The publishing timeframe;
– If users are able to see the learning object until it is not completed/passed, infinite times or just one time;
– If the object is a bookmarker (Begin or final).

3 – Set the Learning Object prerequisites

In the Prerequisites area you can decide to make a learning object visible only after the user have completed the previous one (or the one that has been set as a prerequisite).

set prerequisites

Managing prerequisites related to each learning object will allow you to make users follow a specific order (decided by the teacher or the training manager) while attending the course. By this way you can create complex curricula and support the users while completing the course.

An example of prerequisite: in order to avoid that users get access to a test before they have completed the related chapters, you can set those lessons as a prerequisite to access the test itself.

As you can see below, if you set prerequisites, the “locked” (not accessible) learning objects will be marked with a padlock.

Remember: when you set an object as “end object marker”, be sure that all the previous learning objects have been set as prerequisites.

4 – The advantages

What are the advantages for the learning administrators? For example, it’s not so easy to manage an high number of users; but if you let them follow a linear curriculum, your job become easier. Moreover, you’re able to reduce your margin of error while analyzing and reporting data.
