Starting from November 2019 with the Docebo 7.8 release, the structure of the pages and menus used by the Go.Learn Mobile App will be dictated by the Configuration of the Manage Pages and Manage Menus areas of the platform Admin Menu.

You can choose whether to keep the mobile menu synchronized with the desktop menu and provide the same user experience to your users, saving configuration time, or managing different menu structures making the mobile experience more dynamic.

Important Notes for Initial Transition

When Docebo 7.8 is released, the desktop menu and the mobile menu will not be synchronized, meaning that the mobile menu structure will be the one currently used by Go.Learn, in order not to impact the user experience of your learners. Under the hood, the pages and the menu structure have been redesigned using the tools available in the Manage Pages and in the Manage Menus areas.

In more basic terms, after 7.8 is released, your users will have the same mobile experience that they do now if you, as the Superadmin, choose not to change the configurations set in the Manage Pages and Manage Menus areas of your platform. However, Docebo 7.8 opens up the possibility for you to customize the menus and pages seen by your users in the Go.Learn App.

If you wish to activate the synchronization with the desktop menu or to customize the mobile menu, log in as a Superadmin, access the Admin Menu from the gear icon in the top right corner of the page, and select Manage Menus from the Settings area. Look for the menu you would like to customize, click the ellipsis menu at the end of the menu row, and select Edit. Once in the menu edit view, move to the Mobile App Main Menu tab and:

  • Disable the Customize Mobile App Menu toggle to synchronize the mobile menu with the desktop menu.
  • Keep the Customize Mobile App Menu toggle enabled, and customize the menu by following the instructions listed in this article.

Questions & Answers

This section is a collection of the most frequently asked questions about the mobile pages and menus feature.

Are Mobile Pages available only for those who have rebranded the Mobile App?

Mobile pages are available to all customers, independently on whether you have rebranded your app

Am I forced to customize my mobile menu or to synchronize it with my desktop menu?

No. As mentioned earlier in this article, when the Mobile Pages & Menus feature is released, the mobile menu will not change unless you take action to change it. Feel free to keep it as it is.

Are all of the widgets available for desktop also available for mobile?

No. At the moment, the widgets available for mobile pages are: My Courses and Learning Plans, Channels, Catalog, Custom Content Box, Image, Embed Video, My Profile and HTML/WYSIWYG. Only desktop pages including at least a widget available for mobile will be made available in the Mobile App Main Menu tab. We are planning to have other widgets available for mobile in the future, so keep an eye on our Product Update page to be aligned with our future releases.

What happens if I reference a page in the mobile app that contains a non-mobile supported widget?

The non-mobile supported widget will be ignored, while the other mobile supported widgets in the page will be rendered. It is not possible to assign a page that does not contain mobile-compliant widgets to the mobile menu.

Are all of the built-in pages available for mobile?

No. Right now, the built-in pages available for mobile are: My Courses and Learning Plans, All Channels, My Channel, Course Catalog.

Are External Link pages available for mobile?

Right now, external link pages are available for desktop only.

Can I design custom HTML widgets in a responsive way for Mobile?

Yes, but remember to test the widget on a real device by creating a test menu assigned to a test user after placing the code in the HTML widget. We suggest you do not test your widget  using a mobile browser since it will not guarantee that the code works properly within the widget,

Are Mobile Pages a paying feature of Docebo?

The possibility to customize the Mobile App through Mobile Pages is included in the platform subscription. No extra license is required.

Can I assign different properties to the same widget on desktop and on mobile? As an example, use an Image widget showing an image on desktop and an image on mobile?

Widgets have the same properties both on desktop and mobile, but you can create two versions of the same page, one for desktop and one for mobile, assigning different properties to the widgets composing the page.

Why not all of the desktop widgets are available for mobile?

It’s a matter of time. The widgets available for mobile will be implemented over time. Use our Ideas Portal to tell us which widgets you would like to be implemented first.

Will the Iframe widget be available for Mobile as well?

For technical reasons, the Iframe widget is not portable on a native app and will not be available.
