Docebo to Offer Virtual Learning Platform to Heart & Stroke for Critical Resuscitation Training to Frontline COVID-19 Healthcare Workers

Docebo Learning Platform for Heart & Stroke during COVID-19TORONTO, May 6, 2020 – To meet the new reality of public health measures, including physical distancing, Docebo (TSX: DCBO) has donated 9-months of free use of their leading AI-powered online learning platform to Heart & Stroke. This will allow the health charity to continue to deliver critical training during the COVID-19 pandemic in a safe manner.

“We are very grateful to Docebo for stepping up during these difficult times, to provide us with a safe way to deliver this life-saving training to healthcare providers,” said Cristina Toporas, Director, Resuscitation, Heart & Stroke. “Cardiac arrests have not stopped during this pandemic, and this means that potentially hundreds of people will continue to receive CPR training and prepare them to save lives.”

In resuscitation, Heart & Stroke has been setting the standard for decades and offers comprehensive training solutions in Canada. Heart & Stroke trains more than half a million people each year in life-saving programs ranging from basic awareness training to the advanced life support certifications required by thousands of regulated healthcare professionals. The traditional model of training Heart & Stroke relies on includes direct interaction because hands-on practice is critical to effective performance and the acquisition of lifesaving skills. But, this approach is not possible with the current reality.

Heart & Stroke medical experts determined resuscitation training is an essential service if offered to equip healthcare professionals to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. Heart & Stroke has about 11,000 instructors across the country, and 80% of the training instructors provide is for the healthcare workforce.

The Docebo AI-powered virtual learning platform allows Heart & Stroke instructors to teach the courses consistently within the parameters of intuitive technology. This includes teaching the theoretical portion of resuscitation skills, ensuring students can verbalize these skills, and even conduct exams virtually. Learners will be asked to describe and outline all the steps needed to resuscitate someone who is in cardiac arrest.

“With our global headquarters in Toronto, Heart & Stroke has made an impact in the lives of our employees here at Docebo and is an organization that is near and dear to our hearts,” said Docebo CRO Alessio Artuffo. “It is with great pleasure that we are able to help Heart & Stroke continue to provide critical training and make their transition to online delivery seamless, accessible, and effective.”

Cardiac arrests do not stop during a pandemic, and having trained personnel who can save lives and ensure the successful recovery of patients, wherever they may be in the continuum of care, is essential. To address these challenges, Heart & Stroke is rethinking the delivery of its programming. Heart & Stroke and Docebo worked together to enable students to learn the skills online.

“I am thrilled to hear about the on-line educational solution generously offered to Heart & Stroke, to provide basic, advanced and pediatric life support during these challenging times,” said Sev Perelman, Medical Director of SimSinai simulation centre of the Sinai Health System, Heart & Stroke medical director with over 20 years of experience in Medical Education. “This is an extremely important, relevant and impactive way to help frontline Heart & Stroke educators,” he added.
