Heilind
How Heilind built a global training program with Docebo Creator and Go1
Heilind Electronics is a global distributor of interconnect, electromechanical, and sensor products, and the largest connector distributor in the United States. Together with its subsidiaries, including DB Roberts, Heilind employs more than 2,100 people across 40 countries. As Heilind grew, they looked to build a scalable global learning strategy taking learning strategy from various mediums to one centralized platform with Docebo. Heilind partnered with Docebo to provide standard courseware through Go1 and empower managers to easily create custom internal training using Docebo Creator.

When I got here, everything lived on a wiki and I was a team of one. Go1 in Docebo gave us content the day we needed it, and Creator gave our managers a way to build what only Heilind knows. Now we have a training program employees like.
Don Finger
Challenge
Heilind had grown into a global business, but its training hadn’t kept pace. When Don Finger joined as Corporate Training Manager in 2021, Heilind had no LMS, no training team, and no plan for how employees should learn their roles. Training existed on wiki pages, in SharePoint folders, and in PowerPoint decks and PDFs, often in several versions at once. There were no assessments, and nobody could confirm who had completed what.
Content was just as scattered. Outside of compliance training from one vendor, Heilind had no third-party content source. When teams needed technical content, they copied material from OSHA resources into slides and documents. The information was relevant, but quality varied from file to file. And with most training available only in English, teams in Germany, Poland, China, and other regions were left with limited options.
Building everything in-house wasn’t realistic either. Don started as a team of one, and an LMS administrator joined months later. Heilind’s managers and subject matter experts (SMEs) who held company knowledge employees defaulted to PowerPoint or handed requests back to the training team.
At the same time, pressure was intensifying: long-tenured employees were retiring, and an incoming generation of workers demanded quick, on-demand learning that they could easily access and revisit at any time. Heilind needed a comprehensive training program delivered quickly by a small team across four continents.
Solution
Don needed more than a place to store files. Employees needed to find training and take assessments on any device, while his team needed to track completion. Don also wanted a platform that allowed managers to create lessons without a steep learning curve. Heilind chose Docebo, then built its course catalog with a clear strategy.
Go1 first, for everything that’s standard
Don had previously seen how a content library could fill training gaps on demand. He brought that playbook to Heilind and built Heilind’s program in Docebo with Go1’s premium essentials plus library through Docebo’s Content Marketplace for what’s standard, and Creator for what’s uniquely Heilind. His pitch to leadership was simple: wait months for new training, or pull it up the same day. Leadership chose the same day.
“If you want to wait months for training materials, that’s great, but I can find it on Content Marketplace and pull it up that day. That gives my company a better opportunity to spend time improving our training culture.”

Go1 is now the default starting point for every new training request. “There’s a reason why it’s called Go1,” Don says. “Go there first.”
A repeatable way to pick the right Go1 course
Don’s process is simple. Every course needs the right length for the request, from a quick microlearning lesson to a deeper multi-hour course, and has to cover at least three of his learning objectives. His top three course selections go to SMEs and managers for review.
Content Marketplace puts the details Don relies on right where he needs them. Filters for topic, skills, format, and language narrow the options quickly. Course tiles show duration and language at a glance, and full previews let him check quality before anything goes into Heilind’s catalog.
Creator for everything that’s Heilind-specific
When Go1 doesn’t cover a topic, or only covers part of it, Don builds it in Creator, Docebo’s AI authoring tool.
Creator replaced previous authoring tools and the PowerPoint decks managers defaulted to. Don’s standard for any tool is what he calls “click, click, boom”: if managers have to follow more than a few steps, they’ll stop. Creator met that bar, and its built-in assessments, interactive elements, AI video avatars, and AI translation gave Heilind capabilities its wiki never had.
“I used to lose managers to complexity. They’d say, ‘This is too much, I can’t do it, you do it.’ Now I say, ‘Here’s the tool. I’ll teach you the basics’…Now over a dozen are using Creator because they like the simplicity and user interface.”

Getting hesitant managers to build took more than handing out licenses. Each manager received a kickoff session, office hours, shared templates and hands-on help with their first lesson. Every course then passes a four-stage review: The SME checks accuracy, the manager confirms relevance, the training team checks the build, and the team publishes and monitors results. Training coordinators in each division share the load, so the program doesn’t depend on one person.

All in Docebo: Go1 for the foundation, Creator for Heilind’s voice
The two work best together. Heilind’s AI upskilling started with off-the-shelf Go1 courses that met Don’s objectives, and now anchor an internal AI certification. Next, Don plans to rebuild that certification in Creator, tailored to Heilind’s workforce.
That approach is already paying off for Heilind’s revenue teams. DB Roberts (a Heilind subsidiary) runs its three-tier sales onboarding program in Creator, and Heilind’s own sales team is modeling its program on it.
Result
A full catalog without a full design team
Heilind now offers more than 2,000 courses, about 1,700 of them from Go1. When a new training need comes up, Don’s team can often have a course ready the same day instead of building from scratch. That frees them to focus on the training only Heilind can create.
Go1 content also supports Heilind’s Microsoft 365 certification programs, with beginner, intermediate, and advanced tracks for tools like Excel. Leaders now have a detailed view of who’s certified at each level, which helps them pick the right people for project teams.
Compliance training employees can finish, in their own language
Heilind’s import and export training used to live in outdated files across three wiki areas, available only in English and impossible to track. Rebuilt in Creator, it’s now one course in 10 languages, with knowledge checks, a passing requirement, and an annual review cycle. The results:
- 99.55% completion rate
- 86% English-language survey respondents rated it good or very good
- One learner called it the first time in 20 years they understood the training.
Managers who build their own training
Heilind’s team now regularly creates 10+ new Creator lessons and learning assets a month, many for global audiences in multiple languages. Even the export officer, who first asked the training team to build his course for him, now builds his own. “Now I’ve got an export officer who can’t stop.” A monthly report built on Docebo Insights data keeps that progress visible to leadership.
Time back for a lean team
With content discovery, authoring, translation, and reporting all in Docebo, Heilind’s training team of two has time to try new things. Don runs badge and leaderboard contests that keep salespeople engaged, hosts lunch-and-learn sessions to build managers’ confidence with Creator and AI, and is testing Docebo MCP Server to flag retiring Go1 courses and build shareable collections. Next on the list: dozens of warehouse training projects, built in Creator.
“A new generation is coming in, and they want training that’s quick, on demand, and easy to come back to. Go1 gets them up to speed fast. Docebo Creator lets the people who’ve been here for decades turn what they know into training. That’s how Heilind’s knowledge stays in the building.”
