Docebo’s 7.6 product release elevates AI, social learning, privacy and course management functionalities.

Fresh off the heels of our groundbreaking 7.5 product release, which unveiled our first steps towards becoming an Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform for learning, Docebo is kicking off 2019 with a set of new and carefully-thought-out features, including a few borne from customer feedback via our Ideas Portal.

Our 7.6 release is all about cool and useful new features geared to both learning admins and learners, and augment some already-popular features, plus an update to the platform in the realm of AI-powered learning. 

We’ve also added a healthy roster of other new and exciting features, including:

  • New currencies to our e-commerce module.
  • Updates to both Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions versioning designed to reduce compliance risks.
  • A course management beta mechanism that allows Enterprise-level customers to test course environments without risking any trouble to production data or slowing down their platform.
  • A new Webhooks function that makes it easier than ever to write third-party integrations with the Docebo learning platform.

Learners Can Now Filter Content That’s Most Important to Them (If Their Admin Allows Them To) 

Content curation is the active sifting and culling of content, in which you identify valuable content, put it all together in an organized way and then make it available to other people. Curation is a topic that’s gathering steam in L&D circles, particularly its ability to offer learners a way to consume content from multiple perspectives, whether that content is produced in-house, from external sources or by their peers (user-generated content).

Indeed, not only do learners want to spend less time seeking out the content they need, there’s also an itch to scratch as it relates to content that may have already been consumed that continues to appear in their dashboard.

Think of it this way: how many times have you logged into a video streaming service and see the same TV show or movie continue to pop up in your “suggested content” tab – even though you’ve already watched that program twice? 

Given the amount of content available to us, no matter the facet of our lives, it’s also incredibly easy for those dashboards we have to navigate to consume that content to get busy. 

Docebo now allows users to hide or unhide learning assets that have been completed (or those that aren’t relevant to their careers or interests) so their dashboard displays only content most likely to be consumed.

The Hide/Unhide function gives learners a way to easily configure their platform dashboard by removing both informal and formal content that they don’t want to see within their channels, courses and learning plan pages.

While this task is manual and must be completed by end users, admins can toggle the feature on or off to retain control over learning assets that are either mandatory for all learners to complete or those specific to individual learning outcomes.

Admins Can Now Train AI by Blacklisting Specific Content Tags 

For those that have added the Coach & Share module to their Docebo platform, admins are now able to blacklist words they don’t want to appear in tags associated with learning assets and objects, as well as user questions.

This new blacklist feature works on tags that are auto-generated by the platform’s AI engine. After saving their blacklist, any tags the admin has noted will not only not be added to future learning objects, but also removed from existing ones.

AI already excludes any tags with words that are considered inappropriate (using a built-in profanity filter) by default. While the profanity filter is a single list of words that aren’t allowed in the platform, the new Blacklist feature gives admins a way to define a specific list of words within their platform that may not necessarily be considered offensive, such as competitor names. 

The list can be updated as needed, adding or removing certain words as needs evolve. As the admin continues to add or remove Blacklisted items, Docebo’s AI analyzes and understands these terms to ensure, over time, these items don’t appear on learning objects when the system automatically produces tags, using the Auto Tag function. Eventually, the administrative requirements will be limited to monitoring the list instead of adding or removing items as the AI continues to understand tagging requirements.

Webhooks Make it Easier to Write Third-Party Integrations With Docebo 

Webhooks are user-defined HTTP callbacks, triggered by an event, such as a learner self-registering into the platform or enrolling into a course. When an event happens, the source site makes an HTTP request to the source URL configured for the webhook, which causes events on one site to invoke a defined behavior on another. 

[This feature is not for learning platform admins or learners, but instead for those responsible for managing IT requirements within an organization’s L&D department.] 

This new feature within the Docebo platform, designed specifically for a learning admin’s technology resource (IT department, programmer), is now able to write integrations with Docebo more easily as a webhook that notifies a third-party system of an event that occurred in Docebo – as it happens, such as new users being added to the platform or course completions. Webhooks, which are available exclusively to Docebo Enterprise customers, also minimize API calls, to improve integration performance.

New Course Management Beta Mechanism For Enterprise Clients 

Docebo Enterprise clients can now preview the new course management section for admins. With 7.6, Docebo has revamped the course management environment of the platform, which starts with a beta version that includes complete porting of course management functionalities.

Course-related tasks are now confined to a single page, without needing to navigate several locations to accomplish simple tasks. A new image editor makes course images professional and visually attractive to augment the value of the content they’re meant to represent. Together these elements make it easier than ever for admins to test and deploy new learning environments guaranteed to deliver a top-notch user experience.

Administrators (‘Superadmins’ in the Docebo platform) can test and repeat as many times as they like without risking any trouble to production data or slowing down the platform, giving them the power to assess new functionality, gather feedback, and decide whether to adopt a new design or default back to an existing one.

New Currencies Help E-Commerce App Users Reach New Markets For Course Sales 

The E-Commerce app, which is used to sell courses within the Docebo platform, now supports ten new currencies to help users increase and diversify course sales to new markets.

New currencies supported by the Docebo E-Commerce app include:

Better Protect Data With a New Terms and Conditions Control Mechanism 

With increasing sophistication in the regulation of online business, particularly related to privacy, copyrights, billing and subscriptions, it’s more imperative than ever for organizations to adhere to a set of best practices that guarantee complete protection and confidentiality of customer data. Docebo 7.6 introduces a completely revised mechanism to manage Terms and Conditions, outside of your Privacy Policy. This simplifies regulatory compliance yet is robust enough to address the increasing number of business use cases that our customers encounter, such as managing multiple domains. 

The new Terms and Conditions function includes a new dashboard for monitoring usage, version control and acknowledgment of tracking mechanisms.

Privacy Policy Extension Eliminates Risks Related to Policy Versioning 

After introducing critical privacy and security capabilities in earlier releases (e.g. support for GDPR), Docebo 7.6 adds a few more capabilities, such as content preview and header message editing and a few other tools to greatly reduce the configuration demands on L&D admins in customizing and maintaining privacy policies for their platform(s). Administrators can now add content to the body of the policy in PDF form. A history of those PDF files can be tracked to ensure complete peace of mind about using the right version in cases where they need to demonstrate compliance, such as audits or legal debates related to policy versions.

Those that have configured the Privacy Policy in their platform will see a few new improvements in the configuration area, such as:

  • Previewing the policy before saving a new version.
  • Adding a header message above the policy and sub-policy messages in the registration form.
  • Adding PDF files into the body of the policy, which are trackable to avoid issues related to versioning.
  • Minor interface improvements for a smoother configuration experience.
